The amount you could save on processing by switching to a competitive solution such as those available through the CardFellow marketplace could quickly exceed the initial expense of purchasing a new POS system. Alternately, you can continue to use your existing processor until you decide it’s time to purchase a new POS anyway and then switch, or you could decide if you’d be able to use a less expensive countertop terminal or smaller tablet-based system instead of purchasing another full-fledged POS.
La gestion des clients est également un jeu d'enfant, grâce à la flexibilité de Vend et à un cadre d'information robuste. Ben Dwyer began his career in the processing industry in 2003 on the sales floor for a Connecticut‐based processor. As he learned more about the inner‐workings of the industry, rampant unethical practices, and lack of assistance available to businesses, he cut ties with his employer and started a blog where he could post accurate information about credit card processing. As the blog gained in popularity, Ben began directly assisting merchants in their search for a processor. Ben believes in empowering businesses by providing access to fair, competitive pricing, accurate information, and continued support. His dedication to transparency and education has made CardFellow a staunch small business advocate in the credit card processing industry.
I’m in the UK, spent approx 20K on terminal hardware and god knows how much on Clover software. Bottom line was we were promised the earth by the Clover rep, the system didn’t do what we wanted and basically 2.5 years down the line we have pulled them out of our stores. Customer service is awful, would not recommend them at all. So basically I have about 16 full terminal systems in my office which are useless and fully paid for. Why can’t the internet be put onto them so you could at least give them away for families to use the tablets? The printers are useless too as the serial numbers are linked to each terminal in some way so only Clover can dedicate it to another Clover terminal under your contract. Basically it’s an environmental issue too, we end up having to pay to dispose of them, more flipping landfill.

Finally, some merchants might find Clover hardware limiting. Unlike other POS systems that run on Apple or Android devices, Clover’s proprietary hardware only works with Clover POS (with one exception, which I’ll get to shortly). That means if you buy the hardware and you end up not liking Clover, you can’t use your equipment with any other system. What’s more, your unit cannot even be reprogrammed if you want to switch to another First Data-approved merchant account. You’ll have to buy a whole new hardware bundle.
Clover is a good point of sale system for retail and food-service businesses. It offers a suite of hardware options and a large App Marketplace to fit the unique needs of a large number of business owners. Clover manufactures their own hardware which works nicely with their software and add on Apps.Though Clover has been in the market for a few years, it is still missing functionality that other systems offer. Most of the times, the functionality can be added via purchasing apps but it can get very costly. Also, Clover does not offers support for third party apps which can leave business owners stranded if they are unable to get in touch with the app developer.
Clover offers expanded functionality through their App Marketplace. For example, Full service restaurants can download an app that gives them access to a table layout screen. Retailers have many apps available to them as well and are served better by using one of the advanced inventory tracking apps instead of relying on the native inventory tracker.
Clover Mobile also has an optional dock for stationing the machine at a set location. Clover Mobile processes payments through First Data, one of the nation’s largest payment processors, and can be used with any processor that utilizes the First Data platform. Clover Mobile is a cloud-based system, allowing businesses to manage information remotely from an internet-connected device.
