Shopify was one of the first companies to make it easy to sell your products online, but it’s iPad-based POS makes it every bit as easy to sell in person. Shopify POS is an affordable, mobile, and robust POS system with flat-rate in-house processing and built-in eCommerce. While it’s a great choice for any retail business that also sells online, Shopify is versatile enough that non-retail environments, such as coffee carts or salons, can also use it. If you want a powerful website with syncing for in-person sales, this is the obvious choice.
The only nice thing I can say about Clover is the machines themselves. They work. Customer service is about as bad as I have ever experienced. You call and a computer answers, you get put on hold, each customer service person says they can’t help you and pass you off to someone else you puts you on hold and then they say they can’t help you. All I have ever gotten has been the run around. In three months of trying to close my account because I closed the business, I have had ONE person actually help me and what needed done turned out to be very easy. Basically Clover, Owned by FirstData SUCKS.
Shopify POS software fees start at just $29/month (that includes a hosted eCommerce website, by the way), though you’ll need to opt for the $79/month plan if you want to connect peripherals, such as a cash drawer and receipt printer. You will get most features with this plan level, including gift cards, staff PINs, register shifts, and reporting. The Shopify Payments flat-rate payment processing is included at just 2.5% at the $79/month plan level and only 2.6% for your online sales. You also have the option to integrate with an outside payment processor, though Shopify will add a 1% fee if you do that.
Support for Clover products can also be inconsistent, as payments/merchant account support varies, depending on who you buy your Clover hardware and account from. Clover is sold by thousands of different banks, merchant services providers, and other third-party vendors, almost always with a merchant account contract. Software and hardware support comes directly from First Data, which, again, has kind of a crummy reputation with merchants. Plus, its help website and videos aren’t super useful. Support for the Clover apps that extend the POS’s basic functionality is provided by the individual app developers rather than from a centralized support center.

This is honestly the worst POS system I’ve ever worked on. If you have a table service place that’s busy, it can’t even keep up. I take longer editing and entering food. Every feature that comes with Aloha or Micros or any other system costs extra monthly for this system and it makes no sense. The printer is constantly going out, there’s really no rhyme or reason to any of it. If I change a name on a ticket, there’s no changing it when I print it out. If someone wants to tab out of a group, the entire ticket needs to be tabbed out or you have to create a new table and move the guest there. So much of it makes no sense if anyone who developed the app had even asked for a restaurant to beta it.

Clover’s home screen is different from all other tablet point of sale systems, it resembles the home screen of an Android smartphone/tablet since it is built on the Android OS. Like Android tablets, Clover relies heavily on their App Marketplace to offer their customers expanded functionality. Clover treats each set of features (orders, employees, inventory, etc.) as a separate app.
Les Trèfle POS se targue d'offrir une solution très conviviale pour les entreprises. C’est un facteur déterminant de la popularité de Clover auprès des entreprises de toutes tailles. Have to say I found your reviews excellent as I’m a little reluctant to go with Clover because of the long term contracts but I do have one question while I have a website designed with Prestashop and a physical retail store but need to know if any of the above systems are compatible with Prestashop as I don’t want to reinvest in my website please and would the integration be easy as I have tried equate and it didn’t work ?

I purchased mine from First Data and was assured that Clover could do everything my First Data Dinerware could do. After 1 month of giving Clover the chance to fix there numerous problems I sent the system back. It's not a good fit for a full service restaurant, also the sales rep knew nothing about even the basics of the Clover system. It took me 3 times longer to enter an order. This is a big 5 thumbs down on this system....
