I’m in the UK, spent approx 20K on terminal hardware and god knows how much on Clover software. Bottom line was we were promised the earth by the Clover rep, the system didn’t do what we wanted and basically 2.5 years down the line we have pulled them out of our stores. Customer service is awful, would not recommend them at all. So basically I have about 16 full terminal systems in my office which are useless and fully paid for. Why can’t the internet be put onto them so you could at least give them away for families to use the tablets? The printers are useless too as the serial numbers are linked to each terminal in some way so only Clover can dedicate it to another Clover terminal under your contract. Basically it’s an environmental issue too, we end up having to pay to dispose of them, more flipping landfill.

Have to say I found your reviews excellent as I’m a little reluctant to go with Clover because of the long term contracts but I do have one question while I have a website designed with Prestashop and a physical retail store but need to know if any of the above systems are compatible with Prestashop as I don’t want to reinvest in my website please and would the integration be easy as I have tried equate and it didn’t work ?

I have used clover for 2 1/2 years. Do not buy or use clover, it sucks! I have experienced 4 system upgrades that appear with out warning, functionality and payment processing changed significantly to the point that it disrupted business. Last year Clover, that is really First Data, changed credit card processing internally resulting in credit card amounts not matching the Clover system amounts.. I should also mention that Clover Customer service representatives denied for a week that any changes occurred. I had to supply proof that the credit card errors actually existed.

I took on the whole package from clover, mobile credit card machine & printer and when I opened my shop then the clovers station and mini for processing card paymemts! The biggest mistake I ever made, £60.00 set up charge which I wasn’t told about £69.99 per + 25% VAT as they are Ireland based, no support, nothing, paid this for 2 years and now out of contract and they want £250.00+ VAT for me to come out of it for restocking and formatting their equipment! Not happy at all with this, if I could crack the system some how I would put on a different pos and keep the equipment.

What Clover does not let you know when you sign up and it is in the contract is that they will charge you $25.00 charge back fee. So lets put this in perspective. You have a small sandwich shop and you have a charge back of 10.00. Clover will reverse the 10.00 charge and charge you 25.00. Wow....I don't know about you but that is a big hit...we pay .05 per transaction then the charges for MC and Visa then to be hit with a 25.00 charge back fee... When does it end. READ and ASK about the CHARGE BACK FEES! BUYER BEWARE
