the rep Jim Minshew in NC sells this is very nice tells you what you want to hear! POS system the basic is nothing you have to buy all the apps and pay extra monthly fees. The rep said I could try it for 60 days no fees except for the card charges. I tried for 30 days and sent it back and they gave me the hardest time to do that, transferred hundreds of times, they charged me to send it back (Jim Minshew sold it as no charge and obligation free to try). THANK GOD I TERMINATED BEFORE THE 60 DAYS). it took them 2 weeks to accept the return & I was told if they didn’t receive by the 60th day I would be charged more money). 2 months later and they are still charging my account another $75 dollars for what?? I use SQUARE and couldn’t be happier. I use what I need and the fees are plain and simple, what they say they charge and no constant debits of who knows what fees! so the 1 month I used CLOVER I made sure to limit my use CC charges, they were $1700 on customer credit card use and CLOVERS fees were a total of $221+ and I will be closing my bank account cause they keep charging my account. with SQUARE I used $1900 for Customer CC and the charged my account $53.01 you do the math!
What truly makes Square stand out isn’t its hardware, but its payment processing. Square processing provides an alternative to a merchant account for businesses that aren’t ready for the cost or commitment a merchant account entails. Square offers a pay-as-you-go system, which has no monthly fee or monthly minimum, for just 2.6% +$0.10 per transaction. If you opt for an industry-specific POS software package, such as Square for Restaurants or Square for Retail, you’ll pay an additional $60/month, but the month-to-month contract gives you plenty of flexibility if you decide Square isn’t for you.
Toast offers all the restaurant-centric POS features you’d expect, from seating area management to menu management. Even offering more advanced functions, such as online ordering and kiosk mode, Toast is full-fledged restaurant management software, not just a POS. It’s not the cheapest POS around — packages start at $79/month — but certainly not the most expensive, either. The core software offered at the lowest price level includes cloud-based reporting, menu management, and kitchen operations, while paid add-ons include online ordering, loyalty, and gift cards.
Clover isn’t the best pos system at all. My friend use one of these in his cafe and it seems to work well but it really lacks flexibility and some special functions. When I was opening my restaurant I’ve chosen the Smart POS system. This company isn’t really famous but their system is quite decent. Here’s my set posvt.com It’s definitely better than clover.
Have to say I found your reviews excellent as I’m a little reluctant to go with Clover because of the long term contracts but I do have one question while I have a website designed with Prestashop and a physical retail store but need to know if any of the above systems are compatible with Prestashop as I don’t want to reinvest in my website please and would the integration be easy as I have tried equate and it didn’t work ?
While reprogramming equipment does require a little work on your processor’s side, the fact that it’s a common practice for other equipment suggests that First Data didn’t want the systems to be reprogrammed or doesn’t permit it rather than it can’t be done. Whether this is for vague undisclosed “security reasons” or it’s simply a money grab is up to you to decide.
Closer in size and functions to a traditional countertop credit card machine, the Clover Flex offers card acceptance and a built-in printer. However, the Flex supports fewer apps, so if you need specific functions, be sure to check for app compatibility first. Weighing just 1 pound and featuring a 5″ screen, the Clover Flex is the smallest of the screen-based options.
What Clover does not let you know when you sign up and it is in the contract is that they will charge you $25.00 charge back fee. So lets put this in perspective. You have a small sandwich shop and you have a charge back of 10.00. Clover will reverse the 10.00 charge and charge you 25.00. Wow....I don't know about you but that is a big hit...we pay .05 per transaction then the charges for MC and Visa then to be hit with a 25.00 charge back fee... When does it end. READ and ASK about the CHARGE BACK FEES! BUYER BEWARE
